Befor rains ford meets the general he is close minded to how the prey feels while being hunted. " the jaguar only knows 2 things, fear of pain , and fear of death" - Rainsford. But we can see by the end he knows what its like to be hunted and have to fight for your life because he was hunted by the general and his dogs. and even then at the end wen he sayss
"I am still a beast at bay" you can see how the buffalo that charged the general earlier in the book must have felt. rainsford kills the general even though the games over, and thats what the buffalow was trying to do even though the game was its LIFE. its kill, or be killed.
